In this guide, we show you how to estimate the quantities for your facades using structure and object templates in Geometra.

How to do it:

1. We start by adding a pre-made structure template that we have already created for facades. Right-click in the calculation tree, go to Structure Templates > Building > Facade.

2. Click on the area tool. Before we start measuring, we select an object template called “Facade Standing Panel.”

3. We want our first measurement to be placed in the folder “Facade South,” so we click on it.

4. In the object template, we have already defined what the measurements should include: the type of building part, material, and the quantity of each.

5. Now it’s time to apply reductions to our measurement. Here, we also select a pre-made object template specifically for reductions (openings).

6. Next, we mark our openings.

7. The reduction is placed under the main measurement (in our case, the facade). This allows us to see which measurement the reduction belongs to.

8. The reduction includes window reveals and sills, which are predefined in the object template.

9. You can duplicate all measurements you make and then copy and paste them wherever needed.

10. We duplicate our reductions and copy/paste them until we are finished.

11. Finally, we select the main folder “Facade South” and get a complete summary of our quantities.

12. We also select the rows before exporting everything to CSV and opening the file in Excel.
