How to create control folders

In this video, we show you how to create control folders. With the help of control folders, we can determine what our measurements should consist of, that is, what they should contain. The advantage of using control folders is that when measuring recurring types of building elements, you don't have to create rows for each measurement, as the row content is controlled by the control folder.
How to do it:
1. Click on "control folders" in the menu on the left.
2. Create a new category and give it a name.
3. Click on the category.
4. Create a new template.
5. Then, select an object template that you’ve already created and is relevant to your control folder. In our case, we select the object template we created in the video about object templates. We click on "area" to select it.
6. Then, click on the object template you want to import. We select "standard room."
7. Next, create a new control folder for interior walls in the same way as above.
8. Finally, add a control folder for interior doors by selecting a pre-made object template that we created in the point tool. In total, we have now created three control folders.
Here’s how you use control folders in your project:
1. Go back to your project.
2. You have two options for using control folders in your project: Either create a structure template (folder template) that contains your control folders, or you can add them manually. To learn how to create a structure template containing control folders, refer to our guide on structure templates.
3. To add a control folder manually, right-click in the calculation tree. Choose "add folder" and give it a name.
4. Right-click on your folder and select which control folder you want to use for the folder. You can add multiple control folders. They will be added as subfolders under each other. In our example, we add all three control folders we’ve created.
5. Now it’s time to start measuring and using the control folders! We choose the "area" tool and click on the control folder "standard room." Now it’s determined what your measurements should contain according to the content of the control folder you’ve selected. The information is automatically entered into your "rows."
